Together with the Biological Station SIAS, our Commune is working to provide pollinators with more sources of pollen and nectar in our villages. To support this effort, the Board of Aldermen has decided to assist residents in creating more ecological gardens and balconies. For this reason, and in cooperation with SIAS, we are once again offering an initiative this year that enables you to enhance your garden both aesthetically and ecologically while providing pollinating insects with an important food source.
We are offering interested households in the Commune 1 package containing 6 pollinator-friendly wild perennials to plant around their homes. The number of plant packages available for our Commune is limited to 250, the deadline for placing an order is 12 October 2026.
Wild perennials are perennial plants that retreat into the soil during winter and sprout again in spring. Luxembourg wild perennials are plants grown from the seeds of wild plants native to Luxembourg, allowing them to retain their natural characteristics. This ensures that insects can benefit from the natural flowers of species such as dyer's chamomile, oxeye daisy, and musk mallow. Since this year, these perennials have also been produced in Luxembourg in cooperation with social organisations such as CIGL Esch and Lëlljer Gaart.
The date on which you can collect your perennials will be communicated to you by us in the autumn. To place your order, please complete our online form.
Ideally, you should plant the perennials in a sunny location around your home. When the plants are distributed, you will also receive planting instructions for the different perennial species. Please ensure that you provide an area of 1 m² for the 6 perennials.
