Our commune is committed to producing as little waste as possible. This page provides important information on waste disposal and how to recycle waste correctly.
Form for ordering, replacing, repairing or returning a waste bin
We would also like to inform you that you can pick up compost for free at the green waste centre in Senningerberg.
In 2021, the Communes of Contern, Niederanven, Sandweiler and Schuttrange introduced the Zero Waste Strategy in collaboration with the Environmental and Nature Protection Syndicate SIAS. By introducing this new waste collection and pricing system, our Communes have taken a significant step towards more sustainable waste management.
Thanks to your efforts, the results are visible:
- less residual waste per resident
- strong progress in selective sorting and composting
- the ‘polluter-pays’ principle is effective: households that reduce their residual waste are rewarded for protecting the environment
Our progress marks an important step toward a healthier environment and smarter resource use. To continue advancing and fulfil legal obligations, a fee adjustment took place in 2026 which the new waste fee regulation.
The opening hours are:
• Monday: closed
• Tuesday - Thursday: 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (reachable by phone from 10 a.m. on)
• Friday: 9:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Valuation tax:
• 0 € per refrigerator / freezer
• 0 € by TV / PC screen
Washing machines, stoves, dishwashers and dryers are pledge-free. Only the collection tax is charged.
The collection happens every 1st Wednesday of the month up from 8:00 a.m.

Registration Hours: Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m.
Registration request deadline: Friday before the date of collection.
A collection tax of € 10 for max. 1 m3 is charged.
Additional every m3 costs € 5 (Maximum: 5 m3)
The collection happens every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Any collection of residual waste weighing less than 5 kg is charged at the 5 kg rate, as the technical equipment does not allow for the recording of smaller quantities.
Since 1 January 2026, the grey bin is emptied only every two weeks!
If needed, you may place household waste bags next to your grey bin. Such a bag is available at your Commune at the price of €15 per bag.
Follow the sorting advice of “MINETT- Kompost”.
Bins containing incorrectly sorted material will not be emptied.
Collection:
• from April to November: weekly
• from December to March: every 2 weeks.
Lawnmower cuttings must be separated from tall grass, shrubs and tree branches.
The inclusion of any kind of household waste is prohibited.

The SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Biirger collects hazardous waste from households across Luxembourg. The service is free of charge.
This service allows households to separate hazardous waste and pollutants from household waste, ensuring proper disposal and recycling.
The various waste disposal facilities of the SuperDrecksKëscht allows for the elimination of hazardous waste while preserving the environment.
Only for beverage cartons, PET bottles, HDPE vials, steel and aluminium containers (telephone information service at 34 72 80).
The blue bags for this collection can be obtained at the Commune offices.
