Thematic trails
At the edge of Grünewald, on the east side of the Senningerberg, so rich in springs, spreads in a picturesque natural environment, the municipality of Niederanven, an ever expanding community. It is represented by the villages of Niederanven, Oberanven, Hostert, Rameldange, Ernster, Senningen, Senningerberg, Waldhof and Staffelter.
At present, Niederanven shows approximately 6100 inhabitants.
Its population is made up of 81 different nationalities with a percentage of foreigners of about 48%.
Particularly because of its numerous sources and its protected situation the Niederanven area was populated from the earliest times.
In all its villages, the municipal administration, in collaboration with the local tourist association “Syndicat d’Initiative” and the association “Geschichtsfrënn” (friends of history), has set up several thematic hiking trails and put numerous information boards, in order keep the visitors and citizens informed about the local characteristics of nature, culture and history.
Many brochures of these hiking trails have already been published can be bought at the reception desk in the Town Hall.

Restructuring of the hiking trail network
In collaboration with ORT Guttland (Regional Tourist Office of the Center and West) and the Tourist office of the Municipality of Niederanven, all the hiking trails on the territory of the Municipality will be re-planned and restructured. The aim is to minimize the quantity while increasing the quality and maintaining a high level of quality.
In addition to the existing nature trail over the Aarnescht nature reserve, in a first phase, a large 9.4 km hiking trail will link the Groussebësch with the Aarnescht, and will be marked under the name Guttland Trail. Further routes are being planned in various working groups.
For this reason, you can come to the municipality to take the old brochures with you free of charge. You will find them in the display at the entrance.
